What we collect and why
To enable us to give you the best experience of using the Directory and to help us run and improve our website, we collect certain information from users, regardless of their level of interaction with the site. We collect this data ourselves via the Contact form on our Contact page, but also use third party software to gather specific, but non personally-identifiable, statistical information on users accessing the site.
We may collect the following data from you via our site Contact form: a) Email addresses, b) Full Name or nickname, c) Organisation's name (if applicable), d) Telephone/cell/mobile numbers, e) Website URLs and names, f) Contents of any messages, including any personal data or details disclosed therein. The information is collected via a secure form supplied by a service developed by Google, namely Google Forms.
Any and all data obtained during the course of communications between the user and LLND will remain strictly private and secure, as per the provisions of the UK Data Protection Act 1998, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, and other applicable privacy and data protections as established by other jurisdictions worldwide. We will not sell or transfer any data you willingly give to us directly to third parties. Such data will remain only accessible to the website owner and used solely for the purposes of facilitating communication between yourself and LLND. This applies in particular to data provided via our Contact form or through direct email to the website owner in the course of interaction with the site (such as advertising commissions). Exceptions to this rule are in cases where we are required to hand over user data for legal reasons, to comply with search warrants issued by judicial authorities or to defend the rights of LLND in a legal setting. Users are not required to sign up to access any of our listings or other services that may be offered now or in the future, and we do not retain information for the purposes of enabling such services.
Data given to the user directly to LLND may be stored in the United Kingdom or United States. Data gathered via third-party analytics services may be stored outside of the UK or EEA region.
Personal data collected directly by LLND may be retained for as long as it is required to facilitate resources requested by the user. Upon request by the user or when the data no longer is needed for its original purpose, it will be destroyed.
Currently, LLND does not send out marketing materials or issue newsletters, and we will not use your data that you willingly give to us to promote or market any services to you, either from the Directory or any other organisation. We may consider offering such services in the future, but we will seek your explicit permission first and outside of such communications in the future that you may choose to opt in to, we will only use your contact information for the purposes of communicating with you, for example, in changing or adding a listing, or for requesting advertising on LLND.
As part of our website's operations, we rely on certain third party agencies for website user analytics, site management and to facilitate communication and interaction with our users. The third parties we use and the data they obtain from users is detailed below.
In addition, LLND also uses third-party analytics services provided by Statcounter. The data collected includes information such as IP address, internet connection provider, approximate location, duration and time of visit, pages visited, and time spent on the site. All data is processed by Statcounter, and held securely on their servers. Statcounter is an online service which helps LLND to understand its visitors; for example, how visitors find our website, how long they spend on our site, which web pages they are most interested in etc. We use Statcounter because better understanding how visitors are interacting with our website helps us to improve the content, design and functionality of our site. This allows us to offer a better online experience to our visitors.
LLND utilises Google Analytics as part of their policy of understanding website visitors and their usage of the site. This information is sent to Google, such as visitor's IP addresses and pages visited. Google uses this information to deliver their services, maintain and improve these services, develop new services, measure the effectiveness of advertising, protect against fraud and abuse, and personalise content and advertisements visitors see on Google and on their partners’ sites and apps. For more information on how Google processes your data via their Analytics program, please visit https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Google Analytics places a 'permanent cookie' on the user's web browser to identify them as a unique user the next time they visit this Site. This cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google, Inc. The information generated by the cookie will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
We use the information received from Google Analytics only to improve services on this Site. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information (PII).
Users who wish to opt-out of Google Analytics tracking and cookies can do so by downloading a Opt-out Browser Add-on, which can be downloaded to work with all mainstream browsers. The Add-on provides visitors to LLND and other sites using Google Analytics the ability to prevent their data from being used by the service. The Add-on can be downloaded from the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
We also use other Google services, most notably Google Maps which may also collect user data.

While we have made every effort possible to ensure the accuracy of all information held in the Directory, things change in the world of local media frequently. Sites may shut down, change their name or URL, and contact details may be revised. While we endeavour to keep everything up-to-date as much as possible, no database or directory can ever be 100% accurate. Therefore LLND cannot accept liability for any damage or other negative developments resulting to the user from utilising information contained in the pages of the Directory. Users are strongly advised to visit the organisations' sites to confirm information or to connect with them.
LLND does not endorse or has been endorsed by any of the websites featured or linked to on the Site. There is no association (bar HEM News Agency) between LLND and any other featured website.
If you wish to report a change in a listing, you can do so conveniently by filling out the form on the Contact page.
